Stems & Branches Example 1.
A person who was born on February 20th 2005:

Great Movement: (G.M.) – is determined by the element where the Stem appears; in this case– Metal. It appears in the upper Data Analysis Table under the diagram. According to the Law of the Five Elements (Control Cycle and Reverse Control Cycle), the Great Movement creates relative excess of the Fire Element in that same year. This built-in disharmony tends to manifest in the pulse as a relative weakness of the LI /LU organs, and relative excess of the SJ/PC/SI/H organs, since during this year the Great Movement is in deficiency (minus sign). In addition, conflicts in a person’s life may frequently be identified. These conflicts derive from the innate need to strengthen the Metal Element in this person’s life.

Stem: LIV (Yi) - brings energy of the Wood Element – growth, expansion, aspiration, etc. It is found in the Great Movement, and referred to in the table under the diagram.
Branch: KID (Yu). Relates to the astrological animal “rooster,” and tends to be manifested in a person in times of tension or stress as egocentric behavior, or fears and paranoia. It is underlined outside of the Water Element (KID), and listed in the table immediately under the diagram.
Climatic Quality: Yang Ming. It brings with it a tendency from birth towards dryness. The layer is marked by a line connecting the Metal and Earth Elements.
Deep Energies: The deep energies of the organs represented in the diagram: of the Branch, the Stem, and the two organs of the layer which are: LIV-Earth, KID-Metal, ST-Earth, LI-Wood.

Four Possibilities: Because of the combination between Stem and GM, four possibilities for energetic disharmonies in one’s lifetime may arise. The Four Possibilities are marked in the lower table on the right side.
1. Excess wood energy in metal. 2. Excess earth energy in metal. 3. Excess metal energy in wood. 4. Excess metal energy in earth.
Missing Elements: M. Element - appears in the lower table; in this chart we see that the Fire Element is missing.
Missing Deep Energies: M.D. Energy - appears in the lower table, in this chart we see that the Fire and Water Deep Elements are missing.

Missing Organs: (may be found under the lower table, in the middle line) - adjusted calculation of the deficiencies at the Element level and the Deep Energy level shows that the organs SJ and H are “missing.” This deficiency is characteristically expressed as an energetic vulnerability, and frequently will manifest as the appearance of symptoms of weakness in these systems during one’s lifetime. Furthermore, it may be seen that the Fire Element is missing, both at the Element level as well as at the level of Deep Energies. This deficiency leads to a natal weakness in the Fire Element in this person; a fact that must be taken into consideration during treatment.
Corrective Energy: appears in brackets, in the center of the Five Elements chart. It is mentioned in the bottom line below the data tables. In this case the Corrective Energy is Metal, in other words, treating the Deep Energies of the metal, will assist in balancing the Climatic Quality of the patient.
